Two islands, one pulse. Roots reggae came out of Kingston carrying the weight of everyone who had been counted out; bhangra came out of the Punjab as a harvest dance you could feel in your chest. Regal Rasta is what happens when they meet — Kingston bass under Punjabi dhol, offbeat guitar against folk melody, and hooks built to carry across both. Not a fusion for the sake of it: two traditions that were never supposed to meet, and sound like they always belonged together. Music for anyone who moves to the drum, wherever they came from.
Why Regal Rasta? The lion has always been in both stories. Rastafari took the Lion of Judah as its emblem — the crown, the mane, the promise that the counted-out would be lifted. Punjab means the land of five rivers, and its people took the name Singh: lion. Two cultures, oceans apart, reaching for the same animal. Regal is the crown; Rasta is the root. The name is the music.
